Possible Plans For Punk vs Lesnar

There is no laid out next program for Lesnar. I’ve heard those in the know speculating strongly that they go with a babyface Punk vs. Lesnar much sooner than later with Heyman turning on Punk with the idea of Punk and Heyman doing dueling promos. I’d have Lesnar turn first because I think there is a lot more mileage in a heel Punk. The idea is if you’re doing Punk vs. Lesnar, that it’s much easier to do with Punk as the face. But if Punk is to turn face, I don’t think beating him early is a good idea. Punk as a face is inevitable, and Punk vs. Lesnar is an obvious direction they should go to, but I’m surprised it’s something under discussion for the short run.

Why You Won't See Punk Back On WWE TV Anytime Soon

This afternoon, CM Punk wrote the following on Twitter:

“I am exactly where I belong. No desire to be anywhere else. #thankyouverymuch”

Punk was referring to the constant barrage of questions as to when he will return to WWE TV. Punk, who has been described as “burnt out” by many in the company, is currently healing up injuries to his knees and is taking his first legitimate break from the WWE touring schedule since 2006.

A Note Regarding Punk's Rumored Return

Since we keep getting asked this, we are told there are no creative plans currently for CM Punk and no timetable for his return. We keep reporting this, but everyone continues to ask. The belief among those we’ve spoken to is that he needs time away to get over being burnt out and to physically heal. He ran a hard schedule for the company for many years and it’s going to to be longer than 3-4 weeks before he’s back.

Last Monday, Antonio Cesaro continued his roaring rampage of revenge by Neutralizing Zack Ryder into a splatter and proclaiming that he was the kind of competitor who puts the “W” in WWE. As in, “Wrestling.” Old-school, down-and-dirty, carny-rumblin’ wrestling (though, to be fair, since he does speak five languages, Cesaro probably qualifies for the “World” W as well). Easy as it is to nitpick at the egotistical ramblings of recently dethroned champions, it’s honestly tough in this case to disagree with The Swiss Superman’s sermon.

He did say he was the best wrestler in the world, and CM Punk has gone a long way over his one-of-a-kind career to engrain that as an indisputable fact. The vicious Straight Edge Savior decided at a young age he wanted to wrestle and never looked back, competing in some of the dingier corners of the planet to build himself up into the kind of competitor spoken of in hushed whispers. By the time he got to WWE, Punk’s abilities were already legend, and it made sense that he’d be taken under the wing of Paul Heyman, who prides himself on scouting out old-school talent such as Punk.
